Brighton is a nice spot but we have a mission to fulfill. The boat needs to be in Plymouth on Sunday and we want to see as much cool stuff in the meantime.
Tide? Ok, we could leave around 1600 and the trip would bring us to Isle of Wright around midnight.
But it turned out that tacking wouldn’t bring us anyhow close to the needed course. The wind is increasing and the forecast doesn’t look pleasant at all bAfter 1h out there we were steering towards Brighton again.
We have a few options now.
Option 1: tacking and the journey will last about 1,5 days to reach the industrial marina of Portsmouth.
Option 2: just go back into Brighton marina. We know what we have. Try to make that leg another day.
Option 3: sails down and motor against the wind, reaching Portsmouth past midnight.
Option 2 is the crews call. Tack and in.
